1. OUAI Hair Oil
Before going to the beach, make sure to protect your hair from UV: This hair oil protects your hair from UV and heat damage. It also helps you getting rid of any frizz and adds softness, shine and hydration to your hair. You can apply it to wet or dry hair, as you like. Not only will this oil protects your hair from UV this summer but it will also nourish it and hydrate it after exposing it to the sun. It it not too greasy and feels light on my hair. The product does contain fragrance though and has a strong floral scent. Bonus : it’s free from parabens, sulphates and phthalates.
After a swim in the ocean, here is what I use to detangle my hair :
2. Sunbum beach 3 en 1 Leave in
It conditions and protects your hair.
It helps eliminating frizz while leaving your hair super soft and easy to detangle. Perfect after a beach day/surf!
Besides, it smells DELICIOUS, a mix of coconut and banana reminding you of tropical vacations.
It is also Silicone Free, Sulfate Free, Color Safe, and Paraben Free
3. Use a tangle teezer brush
This brush is gentle on dry AND wet hair, and quickly detangles. My hair always gets SO tangled after a surf and this brush seriously does miracles. It really helps me reducing hair loss in detangling process
For a deeper conditioning:
4 . Coconut oil
Coconut oil is the richest natural source of essential fatty acids and vitamin E. It will nourish your hair and hydrate it deeply. Make sure to buy some organic, 100% pure and virgin coconut oil. Personal tip : slather your hair with coconut oil before going in the ocean, your hair will be less likely to absorb salt and to get tangled. Try not to stay on the beach too long with coconut oil on your hair though, as the sun and heat might fry your hair.
I also love using coconut oil as a hair mask and leaving it on the tips of my hair for a few hours . After that, I make sure to wash my hair twice to avoid greasy hair.
5. Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector :
This professional hair product helps repairing damaged hair and broken bonds. It is a miracle product!
It is not a conditioner, it is really meant to repair broken bonds and leave your hair stronger and healthier. If your hair is really damaged, it might save it. It is such a small bottle (like REALLY small) and it is quite pricey but it literally saved my hair.
I usually leave it on my hair for a few hours and then wash it in the morning with shampoo and conditioner.
Bonus: it is Paraben-free, vegan and sulfate-free.
6. Shampoo and conditionner
My favourite shampoo and conditioner at the moment are the OUAI ones. I personally use the line for fine hair as my hair is extra thin but they also have a line for medium hair and one for thick hair. The shampoo helps cleaning strands, adding weightless body to my fine hair and reduces frizz thanks to keratin, biotin and moisturising chia seed. I heard the ones for medium and thick hair are just as good for each hair type. Bonus: it is sulphate-free.
7. Elizavecca car-100 collagen coating hair protein treatment
This hair treatment is for very damaged hair as well. It is another miracle product for me that does wonder for hair that has been damaged from the sun or the heat.
After shower, apply the treatment to your hair and keep it on for 2o minutes for best use. Caution : do not use this product too often : too much protein for your hair will have the opposite effect and damage it. If you don’t want to lose your hair, my advice is to only use this treatment once in a while when your hair really needs it.
Bonus: this protein treatment is way cheaper than other alternatives.
8. OUAI Detox shampoo
This clarifying shampoo deeply cleanses away dirt, oil, and product build up in your hair. The apple cider vinegar in this products helps exfoliate and remove flakes, residue and build up in your hair to keep it healthy. Keratin helps soften, smooth frizz and adds shine whereas chelating agents help remove hard water water deposit and impurities. I use it once a week or every other week for a deep cleanse and my hair feels light and healthy – caution : using it too often can strip your scalp of its natural oils and cause flakes.
Bonus: it’s free of paragons and sulfates and great for all hair types. It does contain fragrance though.
