From our last photoshoot for Pura Vida, step into the world of Pura Vida, where bracelets, necklaces, rings, and anklets are more than just accessories. They are symbols of a laid-back lifestyle and celebration of the simple joys in life. Founded in the summer of 2010 by two friends captivated by Costa Rica’s “pura vida” ethos, the brand has since become synonymous with positivity and giving back. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Pura Vida’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection amidst the colorful streets and sun-soaked beaches of Sayulita, Mexico. Let’s embark on a journey through this vibrant photoshoot and explore the essence of Pura Vida’s spirit.
Embracing the Pura Vida Lifestyle:
Pura Vida isn’t just a brand; it’s a way of life. Inspired by the beauty of Costa Rica and the laid-back vibes of its beach towns, Pura Vida bracelets and accessories embody the essence of “pure life.” As I captured the essence of the SS24 collection, vibrant colors and carefree energy filled the air, reminiscent of surfer girls basking in the sun and celebrating friendships against the backdrop of a beachy paradise.
A Day in Sayulita:
Sayulita, with its charming streets and picturesque beaches, provided the perfect setting for our photoshoot. From colorful fruit stands to bustling ice cream trucks, every corner of this small beach town exuded an infectious energy that perfectly complemented the Pura Vida aesthetic. Accompanied by three radiant models—Amy Zimmerman, Meg Ron, and Carolina Reyes—we roamed the streets, capturing moments of joy and camaraderie amidst the vibrant Mexican culture.
Fashion and Jewelry Photography:
Fashion photography is an art form that goes beyond simply showcasing clothing—it’s about capturing the essence and mood of a brand. Similarly, jewelry photography requires a delicate balance of lighting, composition, and styling to highlight the intricate details of each piece. In the case of Pura Vida, it’s about capturing not just the beauty of the bracelets and accessories, but also the spirit of adventure and positivity that defines the brand. Through carefully curated shots and creative angles, I aimed to bring the essence of Pura Vida to life, showcasing its vibrant colors and laid-back charm.
The photoshoot for Pura Vida’s SS24 collection was a celebration of color, friendship, and the joy of living life to the fullest. Against the backdrop of Sayulita’s sun-drenched streets and pristine beaches, we captured the essence of the Pura Vida spirit—the spirit of adventure, friendship, positivity, and embracing the simple pleasures of life. As the sun dipped below the horizon and painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to capture the magic of Pura Vida in all its vibrant glory.
